mDNSresponder options in Mac OS X
- [Voiceover] MDNSResponder is responsible for DNS resolution for the Mac operating system in El Capitan, once again, after a brief hiatus in Yosemite. You should not run the mDNS process interactively, as it's not designed to do that, but you can set two preferences for how mDNSResponder will behave. If you run into a system that is not using search domains, for example, in the way that you would expect, you can change the way that the system uses those search domains by setting the Always Append Search Domains preference argument in Library/Preferences/com.apple. mDNSResponder.plist to true. This will set that behavior after a service reload, or probably, just as quick and easy, after a restart. So let's look at how we do that, right? I've already typed out the command for us here, so it's simply sudo, 'cause it has to be done as root, defaults write, which is how we're going to put this actionable item into this preference file.
