- [Instructor] Windows Server 2019 is designed to provide the features needed for small networks, for enterprise data centers, and for everything in between. That means that there are features designed for all levels. There are no prerequisites for this course. Whether you're just beginning with Windows servers or if you've been administering them for years, there's something here for you. As you go through this course, there are a few things that will help you get the most out of the presentations and demonstrations here.
First, it's always a good idea to build a test lab and follow along with the demonstrations that will help you. To do that, you should have a robust machine that's installed with Windows Server Hyper-V or any other virtualization platform that works for you. I'm doing all of the demonstrations in this course on a Windows 2019 Data Center Edition server installed with 128 gig of RAM and quite a bit of hard drive space. Many of the roles and features that we're going to discuss in this course are designed to run in Active Directory environments.
If you're already familiar with creating an Active Directory domain, you'll find that the process hasn't really changed in Server 2019. If you're new to this, pay close attention to the videos on creating a new domain and site, and then use that process to build test environments. Most of all, it will help if you start this course with an open mind. I'm going to demonstrate installing and managing various roles and capabilities in legacy tools, in PowerShell, and in a brand-new management platform.
All are available in this new version of Windows Server and I recommend that you consider each on their relative merits to decide what's best for you. Well, I don't know about you, but I'm ready to get started.
