Configure Round Robin

- Now, I'd like to go ahead and talk about configuring Round Robin in Windows Server 2012. Round Robin is a way to configure load balancing across a group of servers that provide the same service. By default, the Round Robin option is enabled in Server 2012 and later anytime more than one server is providing the same service to the network. Basically what happens is each server providing a service creates an A or AAAA record with the same name pointing to each server in the round robin. The server that's hosting a service then uses an SRV record to point to the service located on the server. The SRV record will then use either the A or the AAAA record to point to the host that's offering the service. In the case of an IPv4, we use A records and in the case of IPv6, we use AAAA records. How the round robin works is the service server uses the IP of the next server in the round robin whenever a service is requested of it. In this way, the service keeps getting passed to the next server…
