Join Dustin Manning for an in-depth discussion in this video The equipment, part of Learning FARO: Laser Scanning.
- [Instructor] Outdoor scanning will require…the use of targets due to the open nature.…Targets will likely need to be placed on poles with bipods…so that they don't move from scan to scan.…Spheres or checkerboards, or even a combination of them,…will be the types of targets you'll use.…We require at least three common spheres or checkerboards…between each scan.…If you're working on a project that will take multiple days,…you'll want to put nails or marks in the ground…so that you can set up your targets…in the exact location as before.…Spheres come in many different sizes.…The resolution on the scanner and the size of the sphere…will determine how far you can put the sphere…away from the scanner and still have…an accurate measurement on the sphere.…
Targets, regardless if they're checkerboards or spheres,…must be close enough to the scanner…to get an accurate measurement.…For checkerboards, you would need at least four points…on each of the white and black blocks.…
