Join Dustin Manning for an in-depth discussion in this video Sensors, part of Learning FARO: Laser Scanning.
- [Instructor] The FARO Focus Scanner is equipped…with a number of sensors to help us get the best quality.…Let's take a look at Parameters and Select Sensors.…The first we have is the inclinometer,…which will help us record how level…the scanner is at the time of the scan,…and it will assist us in the registration process.…Next is the compass,…to help us get a general heading of the scanner.…Next is the altimeter,…which is based on barometric pressure,…to give us an altitude or an elevation for the scan.…Lastly is GPS, very similar to the accuracy…that you would get from your phone.…
So this is only assisting us in the registration process.…This isn't something that would give us…an accurate geolocation.…Depending on where you are, if you're indoors or outdoors,…you may want to turn these off.…Obviously, if you're indoors,…you wouldn't necessarily have a GPS signal.…I generally find that using the altimeter…gives varied results and actually makes…the registration process a little more difficult,…so I typically leave that turned off,…
