- [Instructor] The level of detail of your scans will be determined by a few things. One, the scanner settings, specifically, the resolution, which is the point spacing. Second, the number of placements. As we'll have overlapping data, you'll have many points that represent the same point in space, resulting in a higher level of detail. The distance to the object will affect the point spacing on the surface that you're measuring. The level of accuracy required will be project-based. The scanners themselves are very accurate, operating on a plus or minus one millimeter accuracy. Any errors that we have may be reduced by using survey control, so this would be known points that are also visible in our scans. Error is propagated through each scan, so if you have a long string of scans, minimizing the error on each setup will be very important to the overall product.
