Join Dustin Manning for an in-depth discussion in this video Cloud-to-cloud registration, part of Learning FARO: Laser Scanning.
- [Instructor] Cloud-to-cloud registration…works based off of the overlap…from one scan to another.…FARO Scene prefers to have about 50% overlap…to have a successful registration,…but actually does quite well…with very little information.…Let's look at how much overlap we have…in this registration.…I'll double-click the ScanManager,…and go to Scan Point Tensions.…You'll see here that our least amount…of overlap that we have…is over 50% still,…and the most is 86%.…If we found that these maybe…weren't high enough,…we could start to group these together…in different ways to get better results.…
Let's look at how we build different clusters.…So a cluster is simply…a group of scans.…To create a cluster,…we can click on any other cluster…by right-clicking New Cluster.…Then we can give this a name.…This would be useful…if you needed to break things out…based on floor, or areas, or grids.…Then we can simply drag scans into there.…So, we'll take number three,…and number five, for example.…And now, we can register these independently…
