- [Teacher] Here we are on the homepage of Salesforce. When you log in to Salesforce, your first view will be of the home tab. The items displayed vary depending on your addition, layout and customizations, but a default layout generally includes these items. You'll see on the top we have a navigation bar. We have Home, Opportunities, Leads, Tasks. If I click on any one of these arrows, you'll see my most recent records and I'll also be able to create a new lead. The same is true with Opportunities.
And I have all of these areas I can navigate all the way to the right and there's a More area. So if something is not listed in here, could be listed in the More area. In the upper right hand area you'll see a little star area, this is favorites and this is a nice, new feature in Lightning. You can have a favorite account or opportunity as listed here and easily edit these favorites. There is a plus sign here, which easily allows you to create New Events, New Tasks, New Contacts and all of these items below.
There is a question mark icon, which directs you to Help & Training. The gear icon which allows you to set up and customize this entire area. And the bell icon just notifies you of any notifications you have pending. Now if you click on your picture, you can customize this and add a picture if you'd like, which I've already done here. You'll see all of your personal settings and you can even switch back to Salesforce Classic very easily here. And again, you see a search box, which is something that'll see throughout Saleforce and you can quickly search for a name, a contact and an opportunity and that's super simple.
Now one area I also want to show you that's new in Lightning is this area right here to the left, these little dots here. And these are all of the different integrated apps that you might have in Saleforce or that your company has, so if your company is using Salesforce for customer service or Salesforce marketing cloud, all of these items are now integrated together in this area. So if you wanted to quickly navigate to customer service, you would click on here and we would go to the customer service area. So I'm going to close out of that area, but you'll see right now we are in Sales and that's why it says Sales right here.
Now if we look at my customization and my homepage, you'll see that I have my Quarterly Performance listed here. If I scroll down, I have Today's Tasks, I have Recent Items here and then all the way to the right, I have Industry News and Account News. Now this area can be completely customized by you or your Salesforce administrator, so that's just a quick view of that page. So overall, these are the default items you're going to see on your page.
You can choose to customize these or if you're a Salesforce manager, you might want to see a dashboard that includes information for your entire team instead of just yourself. Salesforce really enables you to create a custom experience, so you can see the features that you use most on this page.
