- [Instructor] Now that we have some contacts and accounts, let's look at some ways to link them together in SalesforceIQ. We'll start on the Contacts page. In the Contact field, each person's name links to their detail page. I'll click on Jeff Baker, who we added in an earlier movie. At the top of Jeff's Contact Profile page, you can see that he's not been associated with any accounts. You can add him to an account by clicking the Add to Account button on the right-hand side.
Then search for the name of the account that you want to add him to. I'll add him to the Planet Yondo account. Then click Next. You can now see that Jeff has been linked to this account. Let's add Kim to this account, as well. To quickly pull up her address card, click the search field in the upper right and then type in her name. You can then click on her name in the search results field, to access her contact profile page.
Here we can see all of the data that was imported with her V-card when we created her contact card. And although she shows as having a current company of Planet Yondo, which was picked up from her V-card, she's not been automatically associated with that account. Now that's because IQ has been set up to handle situations where a contact may be a third-party contractor and thus may work for one company, but your relationship with them is through another account. It also lets you disassociate a contact from an account without losing data for either.
This is really helpful if a contact that you have a relationship with leaves a company. You can then easily re-associate that contact with a new account and continue to build a relationship with that individual, without losing the history or relationship with the old account. Let's associate Kim with the Planet Yondo account, just like we did for Jeff, by clicking the Add to Account button, searching for the name of the company. Notice that now we have multiple contacts that we have associated with this one, single account.
I'll click Next to confirm that change. Okay, let's look at going the other direction and start with an account. To do this, go back up to your address icon and select Accounts. And then let's click on the MacAboard account. On the Account Profile page, you can see that this account currently has no contacts associated with it. You can add a contact to this account by clicking the Add a Contact button on the right-hand side.
Then search for your contact. I'll search for Jason, who I manually added an account for. Click the plus button to add him to the account, and then click Next. Then check the box to add Jason as the contact for the opportunity that we created in an earlier movie, and then click Add. Jason has now been added as the contact for this account. By linking your contacts and accounts together, everyone on your team can quickly get access to all of the most appropriate contact information for individuals and organizations that your company deals with.
