- [Instructor] You've learned about…what makes a good clustering key.…In this video you're going to learn about…why you want a clustered index.…Clustered indexes offer a lot of benefit in terms…of overall server performance…and how things work in SQL Server.…There's a great deal of benefit to using them,…especially with query performance and manageability…in limiting the amount of fragmentation of your data.…Particularly for types of queries…that have perform operations like between statements…or range searches, and joining to other tables,…which is where you'll really see the benefit of it.…
And remember, our clustered index is going to store data…in the order of the clustering key,…or in some cases the primary key…if we've defined the clustering key as that.…So whatever we've keyed in that data in,…that's going to be stored in that value.…So it's going to simplify operations like ordering data.…As we retrieve it's going to limit the amount…of pages we have to search when we do one…of those range searches.…So for example, in the demo, we're going to be looking…
