- The Recovery Model is going to dictate how the transaction log is managed within Sequel. And as you know the transaction log, along with the data files together, actually make up your database so. The different Recovery Model dictates, as I said, the transaction log and so therefore will greatly affect your back up and your restore process. Now let's take a look at the different options we have. We have the full Recovery Model and you're going to use full recovery whenever you have a mission critical database. So you ask what's a mission critical database? That's really much easier to decide than not. If it goes away, does somebody get fired or the business close, then that's mission critical. Full recovery gives me minumum data loss as everything is fully logged. And again when you're new you might think well why not just put everything in full recovery and you see the problem is it takes longer to do and more resources.
