SQL Server principal editions

- Microsoft SQL Server 2014 is available in a number of editions. The three most common editions are known as the Principle Editions, and these are the ones that most people use. The Principle Editions include Enterprise, Business Intelligence, or BI, and Standard Edition. All Principle Editions have some features in common. All of them include the basics of the Database Engine, and despite one of the editions being named the Business Intelligence version, all of them contain at least some business intelligence functionality. So all three Principle Editions include Analysis Services, Reporting Services, and Integration Services. The one common limitation across all editions is the maximum database size which is 524 petabytes, which is equal to 524 million gigabytes, which is a huge limitation. It's very unlikely in this day and age you would ever need to create a database larger than 500 petabytes. Hard to say what size databases we'll be working with 10 or 15 years from now, but…
