Review logs in SQL Server 2014

- When we talk about monitoring SQL Server 2014, the very first topic I want to introduce is how to review the logs. I believe the logs are very important, not just in SQL Server but in most IT products. When something goes wrong, when something is behaving abnormally, or you just want to know more about a system, the logs are the first place you should go. Inside of Management Studio, we have a log viewer built in that will allow us to look not only at the SQL Server logs, but also some of the Windows logs, making it very convenient to see everything in one place. Here in Management Studio, I'm gonna open up the Management tree and under that it has an option for SQL Server logs. I'll go ahead and open that up. On your server you might see a different number of logs. But there's always going to be one called Current, and then typically under that a few Archives.
