- [Instructor] The next tool we'll talk about is called SQL server profiler. We'll also launch this one from Management Studio. So off the tools menu, I'll go to SQL server profiler. This'll pull up a new tool. First thing it's asking me to do is to connect to a SQL server, and this is the same dialog we had for Management Studio. I'll hit connect. Then it's asking me to customize the trace we're going to run. And a trace is a gathering of events from our SQL server. So I'm just going to stick with all the defaults, and hit run at the bottom, and then I'll maximize the size of this window. So while this trace is running, every event that happens on SQL server will be recorded here. Right now, there's nothing going on on my SQL server, there's just two existing connections. So we see two line items for that. I'm going to go back to Management Studio and generate some activity, and then we'll come back to Profiler and see those events in the trace.
