- [Instructor] Rather than attempting to clean up data before it's loaded into a data warehouse, it might be better to ensure that the data is consistently entered into each of your transactional databases in the first place. This approach is known as Master Data Management. Master Data Management aims to create a single point of reference within an organization for critical data sets. The most common kinds of master data include customers or products, but it can represent any reference data that would benefit from a consistent set of permissible values. This single point of reference is then disseminated through data integration techniques to an enterprise's transactional databases, so that they're always consistent right from the start.
