The Execute Package task

- [Instructor] Workflow tasks are used to communicate other processes to run packages and send emails. I want to create a new package that runs the file system example package that I created in the last movie and then emails a message out when it's complete. Just like before, I'm going to close this one down and I'll create a new package here by right-clicking on SSIS packages and choose new package, then I'm going to right-click on the new package and rename it, and I'll call this one workflow example. Once again I'll press yes on this dialogue box to finish the rename process. Then, I'll finally execute package task underneath the common header here, I'll double-click on it to add it in to my control flow, and you probably guessed by now we'll double-click on the icon to open up the editor. The execute package task is useful for breaking down complex workflows into smaller units of work, or to reuse package components. It also makes maintaining packages easier since you can simply…
