Many of the design criteria we did in OLTP…was designed to make changes easier.…Now that changes are not going to occur,…or rarely going to occur,…we can change some things about our design.…The process of changing a database…into a structure that works better for OLAP…is sometimes called denormalization.…As the name implies it is the opposite…of the normalization we covered in the previous sections.…Whereas normalization often increased…the number of tables we have,…denormalization will often reduce…the number of tables we have.…
