Convert package connections
- Another way that you can work with shared connections across all of the packages in their project, is to convert a package connection to a project connection. Let's see how this could be useful by adding in Back up Database Task. You'll find it underneath the, Other Tasks, category. A double-click to add it in and then, double-click on the icon to edit it. Now, you will notice that you can't choose the connection to the WideWorldImporters database that we previously saved into the project, and that also appears to be available, here in the Connection Managers window. That's because this task requires a connection to a database server and not a specific database. You'll select the database that you want to work with, lower on the Task Configuration. What I want to do, though, is continue to setup the connection here and then, convert it to a project-level connection for use in other tasks that have a similar configuration requirement.
