Basics SQL Server Management Studio

- [Narrator] In this section, we're going to look at some of the basics of SQL Server Management Studio, which is the most common tool we use for a variety of administrative tasks. Off the Start menu, I would just type in "management," and we'll see that it comes up SQL Server Management Studio. First thing it asks me is what database engine I would like to connect to. If you remember the name of your database engine, you can just type it in here. If not, you're given a drop-down that will probably list all of the SQL servers on your local machine. If yours is not listed, you can go to "Browse" for more at the bottom. Open up database engine. And that'll list all of the SQL servers on the local machine. We also could look at "Network Servers," if your SQL server is located somewheres in your network. This usually takes a minute or two to populate, but it should list SQL servers other than the local one. So here we see an option for "Database Engine," and if we expand that we see some…
