In this section, I'd like to talk about working with large amounts of data in a Microsoft sequel server 2012 data warehouse. A term that's becoming very popular in the industry is big data. Unfortunately, many different vendors use the term big data. And sometimes it's a little unclear what they mean by it. Different vendors use the phrase in different ways. A good working definition of big data. A data set so large that it cannot be analyzed with traditional tools and techniques. So in other words, when our data sets have grown so large that we need to develop new tools or new techniques to deal with them. We are handling a big data problem. Once that new tool is developed, that amount of data is no longer big data. Because now we have a tool that can handle the amount of data in question. So what is big data is now something bigger than it was before. So for example, there was a time in the past when handling one gigabyte of data might have been considered big data, because there…
