Advanced installation options

- I'd like to talk a little more about some of the advanced options, when installing SQL Server 2014. Things that you maybe wouldn't worry about in a development or testing environment, but on a production server, you might want to consider changing some of these things. Here in the server configuration panel, where it's asking me for an account name for the different services, it went ahead and created some default accounts, but we can be more secure by using domain accounts. So here where it says "Account name," we an click on that and browse, and then we could select an account from the domain. And it's typically best practices to have a separate account for each service that is running. After you provide the account name, you would also need to type in the password. Also the startup type, if you're depending on SQL Server Agent to run some important jobs, you'll probably want to change the startup type of that to automatic, to make sure it's always running, and your important jobs…
