- [Instructor] Once you've got your data into SPSS, and you've defined the labels for the variables, you then want to look at whether you need labels for the values or the actual data that's in your data set. Now, sometimes you don't. So for instance, here I have a whole bunch of variables that are quantitative, they measure something in this case, they are standardized scores they indicate the relative score or the relative popularity of a search term on a state by state basis. These are indexing something and so we don't need to give them values. But we've got three variables right here that have integers one, two, three and four, and we don't know what they mean. We know that they have to do with the region of the US they're in, the governor and something about the personality region of the United States.
