- [Narrator] One of the things that's most attractive about SPSS to people is that it allows you to use menus to create your commands. That makes it a lot more accessible and friendly to a lot of people. But it's good to know that underneath all of that there's also the possibility of doing the lines of programming code. Now I know that can be scary for people, but there's important reasons to use this, what's in SPSS called syntax. Number one is it allows you to repeat your analyses at the click of a button. This is so much faster than having to go through and reconstruct things from the menus, especially if you made a mistake or you want to alter something. That's very fast with the lines of syntax. Number two, it's great for collaborating. You can share it with other people. And closely related to that, number three, is it supports reproducible research.
