- [Instructor] When you're ready to focus on the actual factors, the actual data that you're going to use in your analysis you may need to create scale scores. This is where you combine the results of several other variables. But to do this you need to make sure that you're combining things that actually go together. And one of the purposes of factor analysis and principle components analysis that I showed elsewhere is to find which variables tend to go together and can be explained by the potential existence of an inferred underlying factor that connects all of them. Well, from the results of our factor analysis we found four potential groups of variables and if I go to the Syntax that I've got for this video I can show you what those groups are.
