Intro to association rules and sequence analysis
- [Instructor] Performing an association rules analysis might be new to you, but you've almost certainly encountered it conceptually. If you've ever had a book recommended to you based upon other books you viewed, on an online retail site, or you've been watching movies and based upon previous watching history, new movies have been recommended to you, then basically there's something like association rules running behind the scenes. So let's talk about how it works. At a minimum, and think about how little information this is, at a minimum you can get away with just a Customer ID and some kind of a Product Code or SKU. Now keep in mind, this could be hundreds of thousands of books or hundreds of thousands of movies. So this could be very computationally intensive. But in terms of thinking through how association rules does what it does, you just need a Customer ID and a Product Code. Now the problem is that sometimes that's just too granular. Or, you don't have a good way of tracking…
