- [Instructor] Sometimes you want to put your data under the microscope. You want to see it really well and when you're ready to get up close and personal, SPSS has an Explore function that makes that possible. What Explore does is it provides you multiple perspectives on one variable at a time. Let's go up here to Analyze, to Descriptive Statistics and go down to Explore. Now, we have the option of doing several outcome variables and even breaking them down by groups. That may be useful in certain circumstances but most of the time I use Explore just to look at a single variable at a time. Now, I'm going to come here and take one that I know behaves a little curiously. It's Privacy and it's a compressed variable with outliers on both sides. So I'm going to put that here in the dependent list and I'm just going to run this command with the default options. So I'll hit OK. And what we get is a big table here that tells us…
