Getting organized
Garrick: So now that we've seen various ways to record, import, and edit audio in SONAR, in this chapter we're going to focus on how to mix all of our audio together. Essentially, mixing involves adjusting the levels of each track relative to the levels of the other tracks, to produce a pleasing combination or mix of the project. But before we get to actually mixing, I want to spend some time looking at some ways you can organize your project to make it more manageable. I've opened up the project called Mixing01 and this is a nearly complete version of the song we've been playing around with throughout this course. One of the biggest challenges of working with multitrack recordings is managing all of those separate tracks. This project has 15 tracks and, in many cases, that would be considered a pretty small number of tracks for a complete song.
