Design Manager (feature tree)

- [Instructor] In SolidWorks, we're used to working inside of the feature tree. Inside of SolidWorks xDesign, we have a similar tool called the Design Manager. Now you'll notice just looking at the top, I have what would traditionally be considered a part file, but inside of SolidWorks xDesign, we only have physical products, and they can be a combination of part and assemblies in one environment. As we move down the Design Manager, we can see that we can toggle to expand this or close it. If we click on the name of the part, we see that we get this toolbar that flies open, and this gives us the ability to change the color, apply materials, reserve or unreserve, which allows us to lock this feature so others can't use it, and then other general properties of the part. If you click on the area with the three dots right here, you can rename the part to something else. Moving down the Design Manger, we have the xy, yz, and zx planes. By clicking on them and opening the toolbar, we can show them. We can also go normal to them or start new sketches on top of them. Moving down, we have Reference Elements. So we have the origin and then the z, y, and x axes. And then we have all of the features that make up our part. You can see here that we have this small button. That's similar to the rollback tool inside of SolidWorks. We can pull this back and activate or deactivate certain features. So, you can also grab any of these features and drag and drop them throughout various parts inside of the Design Manager. You can see you get the yellow option when you're hovering over something you can't do, but otherwise, it will let you just drop it and reorder it. You can toggle to hide this if you want more space to see your part and work inside of, or you can bounce over, have it come back out, and like the other windows, use this pin to lock it into place. As you add more parts inside of this or more physical products, you'll see that those items will be listed below here as well. Again, this is very similar to the feature tree we're used to in SolidWorks. It's just a little bit more simplified because we don't need as many options inside of SolidWorks xDesign.
