What you should know

- [Instructor] This short video explains a little about the admin side of the course and what you need to consider when taking it. The course does assume that you have a working knowledge of SolidWorks and a copy of SolidWorks on your computer. You don't need to be an expert, but you should be able to do things like use the view controls, start new parts, and know how to create sketches and use them to make basic features. The course will start off fairly slow so if you're a bit rusty, you should be able to follow along just by copying the videos until you're up to speed. Obviously, feel free to pause or skip back at any point or ask any questions on the course page if you get stuck. The course is taught using SolidWorks 2019 so if you're using a different version, then you can still take the course, but you might just notice some very minor differences in things like the interface, how the icons look, and the exact wording of the tools and so on. An exercise file will be provided for each part that we create. You don't need to use these files and ideally, you can complete the whole course without looking at them. But if you do get stuck, then you can open these example parts and you can try to see where you went wrong. The names of these example files relate to the chapter and the video that you're watching and the names will flash up on the screen during those videos. You should also note that these files are SolidWorks 2019 files so if you're using an older version, then you won't be able to open these. But as I said, they're not strictly necessary for the course.
