Using equations and linked variables

- SOLIDWORKS has the ability to create global variables and equations. To turn on the Global Variable or Equation toolbar, first I need to go over here to the Feature Manager. Go on the very top of that and right-click, and come down here to Hidden Tree Items. You can come down to Equations, and click on the Equation Manager, or you can go to Hide and Show Tree Items, and go ahead over here to Equations. And instead of Automatic, turn that to just Show. Click on OK, and now you see the Equations icon here in your Feature Manager. The other way to get into the Equations toolbar is right-click anywhere up in this gray area here. You should see a listing of all of the available toolbars. And I like to turn on Tools. You can take that, and then dock it over here on the right-hand side or anywhere else you please. And then you can see this big sigma here, which means equations, and open that up. Now you can see here, I've got Global Variables, I have Features, and I have Equations. So we…
