Using the Shell command

- The shell command is a great way to create uniform wall thickness parts. In this case here, I've got this part, and I want to shell out the entire back of this piece. So it will nest together with another one. To do that, let's go over here to the shell command. And I'm going to go ahead and just define the wall thickness as being a .1 and then define if there's any of these faces that I'd like to remove. And in this case, I'd like to remove just the bottom face. Go ahead and click on okay. And you can see SOLIDWORKS easily removes all that material and makes this part a uniform wall thickness throughout. Let's go ahead and cut that part in half and look at it, you can see here, everything is uniform as it goes through the entire part. So this shell command is pretty straight forward and easy to use.
