Join Gabriel Corbett for an in-depth discussion in this video Use construction geometry to simplify sketches, part of SOLIDWORKS Tips & Tricks.
- [Voiceover] In this example, I'm gonna be showing you…how to use some construction geometry…to greatly simplify a sketch.…Now, you can see here, here's the part…we're gonna be working with…and if you look at the feature itself…and look at the sketch directly below that,…let's go ahead and open that up,…so click on the sketch and click on Edit Sketch,…and you can see here, I'm just gonna click Normal, too,…so you can see here we've got a lot of dimensions here…and everything is okay.…It's all fully defined lines.…Everything's black.…Everything is correct, however we can do…a lot to simplify this.…So the first thing I want to point out…is anytime you have the same dimension multiple times,…we probably want to use…something like an equals relationship…to greatly simplify that so notice…we've got these four circles.…
This one here, this one here, this one here,…and this one over here.…Let's go ahead and delete the dimension from three of those…and keep it on one of them.…Click on the first one, hold down CTRL on your keyboard…
