Sketching polygons - SOLIDWORKS Tutorial
From the course: SOLIDWORKS 2016 Essential Training
Sketching polygons
- The polygon tool inside of SOLIDWORKS allows us to easily create multi-sided shapes. To get started, let's go ahead and start a sketch on the front plane and then choose the polygon tool. It's going to ask us how many sides of the polygon we'd like to have. I can go all the way down to a triangle with three sides, I can go to a square, hexagon, pentagon, you name it. I can change it to anything I want, all the way up to many, many sides, more than I can probably count here. Then I can define how I want that shape to be defined. Do I want to have it as an inscribed circle, or a circumscribed circle? I can define the size, the radius, the angle, a whole bunch of other things here. I'm going to go over and choose a six-sided hexagon. I'm going to use the circumscribed circle, and I'm just going to click anywhere in the drawing window and click and drag my shape. So circumscribed means that there's a circle on the outside of the shape defining how big it is. If I were to switch that to…
