Saving, renaming, and managing files - SOLIDWORKS Tutorial
From the course: SOLIDWORKS 2018 Essential Training
Saving, renaming, and managing files
- [Instructor] Solidworks has three different file types. The first one is a part and you can take a bunch of parts and you can assemble them together to create an assembly or a sub-assembly and you can have those sub-assemblies under a top level assembly. And any one of these things can have a drawing, so you can have drawings of individual parts. You can see that this one here has two different drawings for part number two. Over here, this assembly, has one drawing for that assembly. I'm going to zip those back up. Now what I'm using here is a program called Treehouse, which ships with solvers. Now it allows me to visualize the assembly pretty well and it shows that I have multiple parts underneath that top-level assembly as well as sub-assemblies over here and you have the option of using something like a Save As. So if you have assembly two here, for instance, and you want to do a Save As command, what that'll do is it'll orphan this file here, so that file will still be on your…
