In this video, learn about the Modify Sketch tool, which can be used to scale and move sketches.
- [Narrator] Often in SolidWorks,…we want to take existing geometry that we already have,…such as a sketch, and copy it over…to different regions inside the model…so that we can reuse it.…In this model right here, I've got a cutout…that's a particular shape on the side of this part.…And if I just click on the sketch,…hit Control + C, and then Control + V,…I can copy this sketch over to this other part of the part.…Now, let's say I want to modify this whole sketch.…I want to scale it up and move it a little bit.…
That's where the Modify tool comes in.…We go to Sketch Tools and down to Modify.…But you have to make sure you're…in the sketch that you want to edit,…so I'm going to edit that sketch and go back…to Tools, Sketch Tools, and Modify,…and now you see we get this new window that shows up.…And it's pretty straightforward.…Basically what you do is you use…these indicators as your center point,…and that's where you're moving everything along,…so that's your origin for this sketch.…You can also have a movable origin…
