Mating parts by aligning planes

- One of the best ways to mate a couple of components together is by using the fundamental planes that are inside of each one of the components. If you look over here under the first part here, you can see I've got my front plane, my top plane, and my right plane, however they are not shown at this point in time. The same thing goes for this cone over here. I've got a front plane, a top plane, and a right plane. If I try to mate these together otherwise, you can see because this is a cone, there is no flat surface to mate together. That makes it really difficult. So you're pretty much forced to use some type of a plane mate when you're working with components like this. However, any other type of component, I'd really recommend trying to use plane mates whenever possible, because they're extremely robust, especially because they can't be deleted. The fundamental planes are automatically in each one of the parts, and if I mate the two together, pretty much, I can't break that mate. So…
