Mating parts by aligning planes

- [Instructor] When you're mating components together inside of solid works, there is a hierarchy. And the more powerful of an object you choose to mate together, the more powerful your mate will be between the objects. Now, in this part here, notice there are no flat faces on the sides. There's one here at the bottom. So if I were to mate like the bottom here to this part over here, that would work pretty good, but I don't really have any other way to align this part except the planes that are fundamentally there. So right over here in that part, if I click on the part, you can see I've got my Front Plane. I've got the Top Plane and I've got the Right Plane. So instead of choosing the bottom face, I could actually choose the top plane. Now, what's really amazing and powerful about that is if I completely delete the part or completely modify the part, that fundamental plane, the top plane, will still be there.…
