General export settings

- [Instructor] Now when we're creating mesh outputs from solid works, we have two different ways of doing it. We can start with solid geometry and create a mesh file type or we can start with a mesh and export another mesh in a different file type. For this first example, we've got a solid body here that I want to send to a 3D printer. So I'm going to go up to File, Save As. As my save as file type, I'm going to select STL. When I do that, I'm given a little Options button right here, I'm going to click on that and that brings up my export options for the STL file type. The main thing that we want to focus on here is adjusting the units and the resolution. We always want to make sure that we give the units that we use to make this file. If not, you can just simply scale it when you bring it into your slicer for 3D printing or you can just scale it using the other software packages that you're opening with. But if people don't know what scale you're using, that can cause confusion, so…
