Join Gabriel Corbett for an in-depth discussion in this video Dynamic reference updates, part of SOLIDWORKS 2017 New Features.
- [Instructor] Dynamic references have been around for a while. And in SOLIDWORKS 2017, they've improved the way they look to make it a little bit cleaner to see what's going on. You can hover over individual features, and you can see here what's related to what. And you can see these little blue, as well as purple lines showing the parent, as well as the child features, as well as the underlying sketch. Notice it says Sketch three, showing that's the sketch below Cut feature number two. If I go over the top level feature here, you can see it's related to the Front Plane, the Origin, as well as these two features.
And if I go over the bottom one here, you see its references as well. So it's a pretty handy way to see everything and all the individual references to the document. Also, if I right-click up here, I have the option to show dynamic references only going up to the parent or only going down to the child. So I can turn those on or off if you want to see them or you don't want to see them. So I do want to point that out. So SOLIDWORKS has made a few refinements to the way these dynamic references work and also given you the ability to show the parent as well as the child references and have the ability to turn them on or off.
