In this video, learn how to use a feature that gives you the ability to select specific sketch entities and make a new sketch.
- [Instructor] On occasion, we're provided 2D data…from another source or from a coworker…or from a contractor that we're working…and it just has too much information in it.…Here I've got a 2D shoulder bolt drawing…and you can see we've got…tons of lines that we really don't need.…All of these points, all of this geometry…that's going to just make my model bogged down…if I want to replicate this in 3D.…So let's say we want to keep this geometry.…We don't want to go in here…and start deleting all of this out…because it's still a good reference visually…if we need it down the line,…but we can always suppress this sketch.…
What we can do is create a sketch from selection.…So if we go to sketch tools,…you can see here the option create sketch from selections.…What this does is gives you the ability to do exactly that:…create a sketch from the things that you select…in the edit sketch mode.…So I'm going to go in, edit this sketch…and I'm going to just select the contours that I need…so I'm going to select that.…I'm going to select the chain here.…
