- [Instructor] On occasion, we're provided 2D data from another source or from a coworker or from a contractor that we're working and it just has too much information in it. Here I've got a 2D shoulder bolt drawing and you can see we've got tons of lines that we really don't need. All of these points, all of this geometry that's going to just make my model bogged down if I want to replicate this in 3D. So let's say we want to keep this geometry. We don't want to go in here and start deleting all of this out because it's still a good reference visually if we need it down the line, but we can always suppress this sketch. What we can do is create a sketch from selection. So if we go to sketch tools, you can see here the option create sketch from selections. What this does is gives you the ability to do exactly that: create a sketch from the things that you select in the edit sketch mode.
