Adding fillets and chamfers to sketches
- [Instructor] SolidWorks provides us some handy tools for adding fillets as well as chamfers to our sketches. Now, my basic design philosophy is to make my sketches as simple as possible, so I can add fillets and chamfers only on the part level, not in the sketch level, if at all possible. That's generally a good way to design. However, there are specific times that you might need to add a chamfer or fillet in the sketch, and let's go ahead and show you how to do that. So right up here under the Sketch toolbar is sketch fillet, and directly below that is sketch chamfer. Let's go ahead and start with sketch fillet. Down here, let's go ahead and type in a sketch fillet radius. And then choose our entities to fillet, and I'm going to go ahead and choose this line here, and then that's going to fillet from that line to the next line that I select. Click there.
