The four components of the ADL vision

- So what's in store for xAPI and the future of elearning? Well, the ADL or advanced distributed learning organization we discussed earlier has a general vision of the future of learning technologies and they call it the TLA or training and learning architecture. It consists of four key components. One is experience tracking which, as we now know, is covered by the xAPI. Two is competency infrastructure which will describe learning goals in the form of objectives, tasks, competencies, context, and performance standards. The third component is content brokering which will tag, index, and deliver learning content. And lastly we have learner profiles which will tag and describe learners. Now to sum this all up, the training and learning architecture from the ADL promises to provide a new standard for describing learning experiences, learning goals, learning content, and learning audiences.
