Linear regression and hypothesis review

- [Instructor] We're going to start the course with linear regression, so let's refresh our memories with a quick review. Remember, the reason we are doing a linear regression is to figure out the answer to a hypothesis we posed in the prerequisite course. And also, I'm sure that you remember that the three components of the hypothesis are subpopulation, exposure, and disease or outcome. In the part one course, we made a whole analytic data set based on those hypotheses we stated in the course. Do you remember the one we had for linear regression? Well, don't feel bad if you don't remember. I have to write everything down these days. Here is the hypothesis we are going to answer with our linear regression analysis. Remember, our subpopulation is veterans, our exposure is having diabetes, and our outcome, which has to be continuous, since it's linear regression, is average hours of sleep per night. Written out in English, the hypothesis is among veterans, diabetes status is…
