Explanation of the ODS

- [Instructor] I want to show you some code using SAS's output delivery system or ODS but it's a little unintuitive. Therefore, I thought I'd give you an explanation first. I admit I giggle at how old fashioned Output Delivery System sounds now so we'll just call it the ODS. The ODS is the function in SAS that allows you to output the results of your procs into a data set. You can then use that data set in your SAS processing or you can export it as a CSV. Whenever you run a proc in SAS, it creates internal tables that do not automatically display on the output. As long as you know what tables are created and what they are named, you can use the ODS system to turn them into data sets and either keep them in SAS format or export them. However, each proc produces a different set of tables in different formats so you need to know exactly what you are looking for.
