From the course: SAP SuccessFactors Performance and Goals Management

User permissions overview

- [Instructor] Performance and goals management solution is used by different types of users. In a typical appraisal process, managed by HR, and IT together, an employee's performance is evaluated by his or her manager. SuccessFactors differentiates users according to the permission roles they are assigned to. System access is granted to a permission role. Users who need a similar set of authorizations are grouped together in a permission group. Permission role is then assigned to the relevant permission group. For instance, to grant a permission role, managers with full access to goal management, we add a new user in system, create a permission group managers, assign the user to the group, add the permission group to the permission role, and update the permissions to the role by selecting all of the authorizations. The above process within SuccessFactors is referred to as role-based permissions or RBP. It provides much flexibility when it comes to adding new users in the system. Users automatically inherit the required permissions in the system as soon as they are added to a permission group. System classify users as granted users and target users. The granted users perform the roles on target users. As in case of performance management, managers are granted users while their subordinates are target users. In the next two demos, you will learn the process of adding users to the system and managing permissions.
