SAP B1 user types and security

- [Instructor] SAP Business One is a licensed product and there are four types of licenses. There are three limited licenses, the CRM, logistics and finance licenses, which give you partial functionality. CRM is all customer facing SAP Business One. It includes business partners, opportunities, accounts receivable and some inventory. You'll be able to follow a lead, close the sale, get the order and build a customer. This is the license we'll be using in this course. Logistics is all the internal production. This license handles accounts payable to order raw materials, the inventory module to store raw and finished goods, production to handle bills and materials and work orders along with the MRP, service and resource modules. Finally, there is the financials. I rarely see this license as often the financial people need full access to all the parts of SAP Business One. Financials are the basic accounting like chart of accounts and journal entries. It includes the banking modules and financial reporting modules of SAP Business One. Most of the accounting, payments and general reporting happen here. The focus here is the CRM module, though OEC Computers is set up for a full license called the professional, which has administrative access. This will let us look under the hood at a few things as we go along. On any license, the system administrator can also add security access to grant or restrict parts of the system. In some businesses, a limited license is too limiting. For example, a custom software company or construction company which needs to give a bill of materials as part of a sales proposal would need salespeople to modify the bill of materials which is not included in the CRM licenses. For more on this topic, see SAP Business One essential training in the course library. Again, I'm going to be less restrictive here so we can do more than your everyday work.
