Performance management process overview

- [Instructor] In this unit, you will learn about the performance and goals management processes, which will help you with understanding the SuccessFactors solution described subsequently. Each job in organizational structure is required to perform certain activities, which makes it possible for a company to achieve its goals. An incumbent is supposed to demonstrate his or her abilities on the job he or she possesses. There are core competencies and behaviors assigned to a job which a job-holder must exhibit. HR, in addition to setting up the reporting hierarchy, works with departments to define the job requirements. In addition to the general job descriptions which guide employees on what they are supposed to do on a day-to-day basis, there are periodic goals which organizations have to achieve. To make sure that everyone throughout the organizational hierarchy is aligned with the corporate goals, action plans are devised and distributed to employees. The group or team effort is directed toward company objectives by setting targets. The process involves creating goals and tracking progress by employees and their managers. To make sure that the employees perform as of their job descriptions and according to the goals set for them, their performance is evaluated from time to time. The performance appraisal process is managed by coordination of different roles, managers and employees being the core. HR initiates and supports the people involved within the process, from distributing the forms to collecting feedback and using it for subsequent steps. The results help organization with plans to develop employees who need improvement and reward out-performers. In the next unit, you will learn how the SAP SuccessFactors Performance and Goals Management solution support the HR processes.
