Using sketches inside Rhino
- Before we begin to model our building design, we should have a rough idea of the massing and a promising pile of sketches. In this video, we look at importing a selected 2D image and getting it into the right position. Before we bring it in, let's talk about what makes up a quality sketch. First and foremost, it should be fairly high contrast, that means I'm sketching with a black pen on some sort of white or tracing paper. If it doesn't look crisp in high contrast, you definitely want to fix it in Photoshop. Finally, before you save that image from Photoshop or wherever, make sure you know a fixed size of one element it uses for what I call scale matching. So let's bring in the sketch of the floor plan. To do this, we go to Viewport Layout. This command is called Picture Frame. The file is located in the Exercise Files, Chapter 01, and this should be the only graphic in there. This is a floor plan.
