Join Dave Schultze for an in-depth discussion in this video Setting the camera exposure, part of Rhino and V-Ray: Architectural Rendering.
In this video, we cover the basic concepts…of how a camera exposure works, as we will be using…a v rate physical camera the exact same way.…This knowledge will help us make changes quickly and easily.…The first definition is F-stop,…or F-number, as used in vray.…This is basically the size of the aperture opening,…common ranging from two to 22.…A shutter speed is how long the shutter is open.…Using the standard camera example,…it can range from a 1000th of a second…to a 15th of a second or more.…Finally, film speed, or ISO,…is the light sensitivity of the film,…again using a standard camera,…the range is typically 25 to 1600.…
These real world camera values…and definitions do have limits.…However, the vray physical camera, although it's based on…a real world camera, does not have limits,…but otherwise works the same.…Let's talk about the relationship between two values here.…The shutter speed at the top, the F-number at the bottom.…In this example, we're using the same exposure…for all of these settings.…We look over here at the far right,…
