Drawing free-form curves: The key to organic modeling

In this video we'll review the four basic kinds of freeform curves in Rhino. We'll highlight their differences, and end up with the best freeform curve that you should be using whenever possible, a control point curve. However, before we start, a reminder on the importance of freeform curves. Their construction and editing are essentially the foundation of NURBs modeling. A clean curve will make a clean surface. Start off with the very first curve here. This is called the handle curve. It's just like you use in Illustrator. We're going to highlight the curve drawing toolbar. Here's the handle curve button. And so to draw this variety, you have to click and drag, so the handles come out. Otherwise you end up with a sharp point. I'm going to go ahead and select that curve I just finished, hit F10. See how I try to be careful. There's a lot of sharp points in this curve anyway, especially at the beginning and ending. Let's try the next one. Scoot over, this one's called interpolate…
